The Championships has always supported the principle of a fair, professional and uniform programme of drug testing to be operated throughout the game.
The Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (TADP) is operated by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). As a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code, the TADP has adopted WADA’s list of prohibited substances and methods. The ITF TADP is fully compliant with the WADA Code.
Competitors are warned about the risks of taking supplements.
Anti-Doping testing will be carried out at The Championships this year in accordance with the 2008 ITF Tennis Anti-Doping Programme.
Blood testing will be continued after being introduced for the first time in 2003.
Players are normally notified following completion of their match that they have been selected for testing and must report to the Doping Control Station within one hour. Until the time that the player reports to the Doping Control Station the player is chaperoned.
All anti-doping testing is carried out independently of the tournament organisers.
