Road to Wimbledon tournament
HSBC banking on Henman to assist development of British tennis.
The HSBC Road To Wimbledon 14 and Under National Challenge is all about clubs, tennis centres and BSTA
schools supporting their juniors and organising a HSBC Road To Wimbledon
tournament to give opportunities for the keen juniors to progress
to the County Finals and then onwards to the National Finals at
Wimbledon.
The event is in three stages and is open to boys and girls of all
standards.
Stage 1 the tennis facility organises a singles
tournament in the spring of 2008 for a minimum of 8 boys and/or
8 girls. Some have a much larger entry but 8 is the minimum entry.
Stage 2 the winners and often the runners-up automatically
qualify for the County Finals held on set dates in June/July 2008.
This means that every club or tennis facility that enters is automatically
represented at the County Finals. No player may represent a club
facility at the County Finals that has not stages and run a minimum
8 player draw.
Stage 3 the National Finals held at Wimbledon
in August 2008 where the 44 County Finals winners and 20 runners-up
qualify to play at the famous Wimbledon grass courts.

Message from Tim Henman
Since it’s inception in 2002, it has become the UK’s
largest national junior grass court tournament and has engaged thousands
of young people at both national and local level. HSBC shares my
desire to support British tennis at a grass roots level and to encourage
more kids to take up and enjoy the game.
I hope you will help us in our ambition to give more kids the opportunity
to play at SW19 – by encouraging your young players to enter
into The HSBC Road To Wimbledon. They too might one day get their
day on Centre Court!
This event is sponsored by HSBC and the All
England Lawn Tennis Club together with the LTA.
