G4S Security Services (UK) provides security at a number of high-profile
sporting events and is very aware that success depends on
creating a safe and welcoming environment for competitors,
event staff and the public.
G4S has provided Security Officers and specialist
security services to The Championships for the last 20 years,
securing the event by controlling access, carrying out compulsory
bag searches and providing on-site security. At its peak, several
hundred G4S staff are involved.
The security of the sporting stars themselves is also an important
consideration. Over-zealous fans can pose a threat in their
desire to get up close to their idols. At The Championships,
all players are escorted to the courts by dedicated G4S security
staff, who also help to manage the crowds to minimise the risk
of attack.
