Men's Dressing Room Attendant

The All England Lawn Tennis Club, the home of The Championships, Wimbledon, needs to recruit a Men’s Dressing Room Attendant.  The job holder will provide an excellent standard of service to Members year round and to professional players during The Championships.  

Duties will include welcoming Members and guests, answering queries,  resolving any problems, making court bookings (on a computerised system), taking lunch orders, running baths and showers, offering a laundry service and shoe clean.  The role includes daily cleaning of the dressing room facilities.

The successful applicant will have a pro-active attitude, excellent customer service experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, a thorough understanding of 5 star housekeeping standards and have relevant work experience in the hospitality industry, for example in a good hotel or sports club. 

The dressing rooms are open seven days a week and the basic rota averages about 40 working hours a week, including alternate weekends.  During the Championships fortnight, additional days and longer working hours are required.

Job description

JOB TITLE:                          Men’s Dressing Room Attendant

PURPOSE OF JOB:              To provide 5 star customer service and housekeeping standards in the Men’s Dressing Rooms, year round and during The Championships. 

REPORTS TO:                      Men’s Dressing Room Supervisor


Members’ services:

  • To help to maintain and develop services for Members including best practice in customer service and the delivery of 5 star housekeeping standards.  
    Duties include:  welcoming Members and guests, answering queries,  resolving any problems, making court bookings (on a computerised system), taking lunch orders, running baths and showers, offering a laundry service and shoe clean.
  • Interface positively with Members, maintain an ongoing assessment of Member requirements.
  • Liaise with the physiotherapist and take Members’ and staff bookings. 

Health and Safety

  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures.


  • Keep all areas clean, hygienic and tidy at all times, including office counter, changing rooms, bathrooms, showers and toilets.
  • Clean cups and silverware for Members’ events. 
  • Regularly wash and dry towels; offer laundry service to Members for their tennis clothing and return to locker. 
  • Clean water dispensing machines when necessary.

Administrative duties

  • Supply indoor court complex with toiletries and towels; check stock.
  • Sale of clothing and balls to Members as required.

As necessary

  • Physiotherapy bed to be made up late Saturday or early Sunday morning and other times as required, liaise regarding bookings.
  • Book hospitality drinks for matches as required.


  • Assist with the preparation of Dressing Rooms for The Championships (Main Dressing Room, North and South and Aorangi), as required.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are of 5 star standard in dressing room(s).   
  • Assist with organising the physiotherapy rooms. 
  • Provide high level of service to competitors, ensuring that agreed services are provided.  


  • Any other duties within the scope of the post as may be required by the Men’s Dressing Room Supervisor / Club Secretary/ Assistant Club Secretary. A pro-active and flexible approach is needed. 
  • Provide Dressing Room services for other tournaments held at the Club.


Communicate effectively as needed with: 

  • Men’s Dressing Room Supervisor, Men’s Dressing Room Attendant (s), Club Secretary, Assistant Club Secretary, Club Office staff, Buildings & Services Department staff, administrative staff,  Groundstaff,  other managers and executives 
  • LSS (cleaning company) 
  • FMC Members’ Dining Room Staff
  • External laundry service
  • Physiotherapist
  • Water machine service engineers
  • Stringing service for Members 


Daily duties include spot cleaning:

  • Floors, window sills, top shelves and dusting ledges
  • Baths after each usage and polishing taps
  • Basins  and mirrors
  • Urinals and toilets, including underneath and behind
  • Showers and tiles

Additional daily duties include:

  • Utility room and locker room to be tidied and floors mopped
  • Bins emptied at least once a day
  • Tumble drier filter cleaned
  • Adjacent physio room to be cleaned and tidy
  • Utility room / locker room to be cleaned and tidy
  • Carpets to be vacuumed and edges cleaned thoroughly
    • Office counter to be kept tidy at all times
    • Fridge to be stocked daily and de-frosted
    •  Generally keeping the changing rooms tidy


The Members’ dressing room is open seven days a week and currently opens to Members each day from 9am.  Normally, outside the Championships period, the dressing room is staffed from 8am until around 8pm Monday to Thursday and until 6.30pm / 7pm on Fridays and weekends, however, these arrangements could be subject to change. 

Two Dressing Room Attendants work 7 day shifts over a fortnight, averaging a 40 hour week and including alternate weekends.  The job holder will need to be flexible to meet operational requirements and must be prepared to work additional days and hours for tournaments, matches and events held at the Club.  During the Championships fortnight and the week before, longer hours are expected and usually 12 hour plus days are required. 

Successful applicants will be required to have / be willing to obtain full DBS clearance.
