Mirjana Lucic talks archaelogy, cooking and an Aussie singer's catchy hit in our Q&A session...
Q: If you weren’t a professional tennis player, what would you be doing?
ML: I would be an archaeologist. I love history so much. I love archaeology and that is something I would still in some way like to pursue after my tennis.
Q: So apart from archeology and history, what are your other main interests outside tennis?
ML: I also love cooking. I really enjoy it and am currently writing a cook book. Not to brag but I’m a good cook and my husband thinks so too.
Q: What do you eat for breakfast on the day of a match?
ML: I usually have some oatmeal, toast and if I’m hungry I may have an egg or two.
Q: Describe your ideal holiday.
ML: My ideal holiday would be with my husband anywhere in the world, preferably the beach. We are actually going on our honeymoon later this year to Bora Bora so that sounds perfect to me.
Q: Who were your idols when you were growing up?
ML: Steffi Graf was my idol. I had a chance to play her a few times and have never beaten her. I’ve lost to her here in the semi-finals in a tough three sets. I admire her and she was always amazing.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
ML: Definitely cooking.
Q: What is your favourite sport apart from tennis?
ML: I love to watch gymnastics during the Olympics but just to watch. I would break every bone in my body if I had to do it because I’m clumsy.
Q: What’s the most played song on your mp3 player at the moment?
ML: Oh God you give the hardest questions. At the moment I’m listening a lot to Somebody I Used to Know by Gotye. It’s kind of stuck in my head at the moment.
Q: What is your favourite film?
ML: Pride and Prejudice. I like really girly movies and at least every couple weeks I watch it (Pride and Prejudice), I absolutely love it.
Q: Who is your favourite film/television character?
ML: Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets.
20:08It brings me no pleasure but it's time to bring the curtain down for another year. Seemed somehow appropriate to leave the last word to Roger Federer. Thanks a billion for reading. What a fortnight, what a final, fast forward to 2015 please...
20:03"I already have seven. It's not like I need another one. But it would have been awfully nice to have it. I think that's what the feeling was of the people, and I felt that... I know they love tennis. They love tennis after we're all gone."View all
