NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, IN OR INTO THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN OR SOUTH AFRICA OR ANY OTHER JURISDICTION IN WHICH THE SAME WOULD BE UNLAWFUL.

London, UK: On 24 April 2014, The All England Lawn Tennis Ground plc (the “AELTG”), owner of the tennis courts, grounds and buildings at which the annual Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships (“The Championships”) are held, announced the issue of up to 2,500 Centre Court debentures for the five years from 2016 to 2020 inclusive at a price of £50,000 each.

The application period has ended and the AELTG today announces that the issue has been significantly oversubscribed and, therefore, all 2,500 debentures will be allotted and issued.  The debenture issue has raised approximately £103.5 million (net of VAT and expenses).

The AELTG will shortly notify all applicants as to whether or not their applications have been successful.

The proceeds of the issue will be used to repay the £35 million outstanding under a previous loan to finance the improvements to Centre Court and contribute to the funding and implementation of the Wimbledon Master Plan, the AELTG’s development vision to maintain Wimbledon as the world’s premier tennis tournament, which will include the construction of a retractable roof on No.1 Court scheduled for completion in 2019.

Philip Brook, Chairman of the AELTG, commented:  “The success of this issue is testament to the enduring international appeal of Wimbledon and highlights the important role that our debenture holders play in helping to secure the long-term future of The Championships.  The money raised will allow us to ensure that Wimbledon continues to be the finest stage in world tennis.”

Advisers to the issue were Rothschild and CMS Cameron McKenna.

20:08It brings me no pleasure but it's time to bring the curtain down for another year. Seemed somehow appropriate to leave the last word to Roger Federer. Thanks a billion for reading. What a fortnight, what a final, fast forward to 2015 please...

20:03"I already have seven. It's not like I need another one. But it would have been awfully nice to have it. I think that's what the feeling was of the people, and I felt that... I know they love tennis. They love tennis after we're all gone."
