Pimm’s has long been the tipple of the nation’s most eagerly awaited tennis tournament, but this summer, it celebrates with the announcement of a host of new events to support the much-loved British sporting competition.
Wimbledon-goers will be able to enjoy the classic Pimm’s No.1 Cup in the Grounds, available from the beautiful ‘Pimm’s on the Hill’ bar, designed in a quintessentially British summer style true to both Pimm’s and Wimbledon, alongside the newly styled Pimm’s at the Long Bar. In addition, the Pimm’s No.6 Vodka Cup will be served exclusively in Debenture areas and the restaurants, alongside the traditional No.1 Cup.
More than 280,000 glasses of Pimm’s were enjoyed throughout The Championships’ Fortnight last summer.
Outside the Grounds, fans can also enjoy a glass of Pimm’s with the tennis at ‘The Pimm’s Wimbledon Bar’ on the Selfridges Roof Deck.
From 3 July, Pimm’s will be hosting ‘The Pimm’s Wimbledon Bar’ on the terrace of Selfridges Roof Deck Restaurant and Bar, where tennis fans can watch live coverage of The Championships while enjoying a glass of the summertime drink.
Against the backdrop of a beautiful London skyline, Pimm’s will be dressing in its best tennis whites to show live action on TV screens on the tennis-themed rooftop terrace throughout the Wimbledon Fortnight. For those who can’t make it to the Grounds,‘The Pimm’s Wimbledon Bar’ will the place to view all the action.
The Ivy Café, Wimbledon Village, will also be celebrating with a Wimbledon drinks menu, available from 15 June to 16 July – which includes a new exclusive ‘The Pimmbledon’ cocktail (Pimm’s No.1 with Tanqueray gin and all the trimmings). Also available are the classic Pimm’s No.1 Cup, The Pimm’s Fizz (finished with Champagne) and The Gentleman’s Mule (with ginger ale).
Pimm’s are also sending ten pop-up Pimm’s bars to numerous pub gardens across London and the South East this summer, to bring a further touch of Pimm’s style to your Pimm’s O’Clock.
Elly Martin, Pimm’s Senior Brand Manager, Europe, says: “We are incredibly proud to be an official partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, a long-standing British sporting institution, and are looking forward to once again serving up the perfect Pimm’s O’Clock for tennis fans throughout The Championships!”
James Ralley, Head of Commercial and Marketing, AELTC, says: “The relationship between Pimm’s and Wimbledon is long established, and we are delighted to be celebrating the partnership with new opportunities for tennis fans this summer, both in and out of the Grounds.”
The original Pimm’s No.1 Cup is a gin-based spirit with a fruity flavour, made from a secret recipe infusing gin with a delicate combination of herbal botanicals, caramelised orange and warm spices. Established in 1840 by James Pimm in his famous Oyster Bar in London, Pimm’s and the accompanying phrase ‘Pimm’s O’Clock’ have become icons of British summertime. The original Pimm’s is called ‘No.1’, with various different ‘cups’ added to the range over the years – including the Pimm’s Vodka Cup (No.6), the brandy-based Pimm’s Winter (No.3), as well as the newest addition, Pimm’s Cider Cup (flavours include Strawberry & Cucumber and Summer Fruits).
