Pick up a delicious picnic and cut out the hassle

It’s the eve of a day out at Wimbledon and time to write the list of reminders to ensure it is a perfect experience. Sun hat? Check. Sunglasses and sun cream? Check. Camera? Yup. Picnic ingredients, napkins, condiments? No longer required.

With the new luxury Best of British Picnic Lunch or Afternoon Tea available to pre-order online - ready to collect on the day from the Tea Lawn - there is no need to shop, prepare and lug in your own chiller bag of summer fare in miscellaneous bits of tupperware.

The chefs from the All England Club kitchens have conjured mouth-watering menus – standard, gluten-free and vegetarian – using the best artisan delicacies from award-winning producers across the British Isles: holders of The Royal Warrant, Winners of Great Taste Awards and World Cheese Awards.

The three-course Picnic Lunch for Two features smoked salmon timbale, blinis, free-range quail Scotch eggs, traditional pork and mustard pie, British charcuterie (pink peppercorn, salami seaweed & cider salami, Cornish fennel salami); with quinoa salad with roast peppers, edamame beans and pumpkin seeds, Indian spiced fennel salad, strawberries and cream, handmade chocolate brownies, artisan British cheeses (Cropwell Bishop Stilton, West Country Brie, Cheddar and Red Leicester) with crispbreads and fig relish.

The gluten-free option adds in a goat’s cheese and red pepper quiche while vegetarians are treated to red lentil and sun-dried tomato pâté, goat’s cheese and figgy jam tart, pepper-stuffed olives, super duper humous, pea pesto and mozzarella pearl salad…with white beans, speckled lentils, courgette and sunblush baby plum tomatoes.

Selected from the very best artisan delicacies from award-winning producers across the British Isles, the picnic lunch for two costs £95 and includes a bottle of wine and two 500ml bottles of Evian mineral water. The green backpack with Wimbledon logo has an insulated section specifically to carry all your food and wine, and comes with plates, cloth napkins, wine goblets, knives, forks, spoons and an oh-so-civilised tablecloth.

Wimbledon would not be Wimbledon without a stop for Afternoon Tea. We’re not talking about a restorative cup of builders', but the full works, worthy of the capital A and T – a selection of trimmed sandwiches filled with roast chicken with rosemary mayonnaise, Gammon ham and West Country cheddar with seasoned crème fraiche mayonnaise, prawns with lemon mayonnaise, free-range egg mayonnaise with wholegrain mustard and watercress - followed by mini gluten-free brownies, raspberry frangipan, pecan and toffee tart and gluten-free baby raspberry cupcakes, and topped off by Devon scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.

Again, you can order in advance online. At £42 for two, Afternoon Tea comes with two hot drinks vouchers and two bottles of Evian 500ml mineral water. Vegetarian and gluten-free menus are available, too. You can also upgrade on the day with either a bottle of Lanson Black Label Brut NV, a bottle of wine or a freshly prepared sushi box, which are available at the picnic pick-up point located on the Tea Lawn.

Back to that check list. Just remember you do need a valid ticket to gain entry to the grounds before you can collect your picnic.
