Wimbledon Continues to Deliver for British Tennis

The 2007 Wimbledon Championships, jointly managed by The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has generated £25 million, all of which will be invested into British tennis.

2007 has been a significant year for British tennis. After detailed consultation with a wide range of stakeholders across the world of tennis, the Blueprint for British Tennis was launched and a new Tennis Leadership Team arrived focussed on delivering the key objectives. The new Tennis Foundation, headed up by Sue Mappin, has also been launched.

Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the LTA, said: “The 2007 Wimbledon Championships were very successful and were once again a true showcase to the world on how a sporting event should be run. The icing on the cake for many of us was seeing Jamie Murray on Centre Court winning the mixed doubles and we again congratulate him and his doubles partner Jelena Jankovic.

“Finally, we would like to thank the All England Club and look forward to working with them over the coming year when we expect real progress to be made across British tennis.”
