Biography

Frenchman Julien Benneteau provided The Championships at Wimbledon 2012 with many memories. The ATP Tour veteran led close friend, Roger Federer, by two sets to love in the third round before succumbing to the Swiss maestro in five under the Centre Court roof. On another day, Benneteau could well have won their encounter. But defeat only spurred the 31-year-old on, and just a few weeks later, he won a bronze medal with compatriot Richard Gasquet in the Olympics Men's Doubles competition at Wimbledon.
