Biography

Marcos Baghdatis is a fans' favourite on the ATP Tour and known for his remarkable shotmaking ability, as well as his crowd-pleasing personality. He was born into a tennis-playing family and Baghdatis's two elder brothers represented Cyprus in the Davis Cup. Baghdatis, a former junior world number one, is the only Cypriot to have played in a Grand Slam tournament. In 2006, he reached the final of the Australian Open (losing to Roger Federer), and two years later, Baghdatis lost to Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals of Wimbledon.
