Take 10 is a film project telling the stories of the lives of ten extraordinary people living in the London boroughs of Merton and Wandsworth.
The project, which has been funded by the Wimbledon Foundation, was the brainchild of Fiona Razvi, director of the Wimbledon BookFest, to celebrate the literary festival’s 10th anniversary. Wimbledon BookFest partnered with students from eight local schools to make ten films as part of the ongoing 1,000 Londoners Project led by Chocolate Films.
With no previous film-making experience, fifty students were given the unique opportunity to attend workshops run by Chocolate Films where they were taught the skills required to produce short three-minute films. After selecting their subjects, the students called all of the shots - from filming on location to final cut editing.
Take 10 captures the stories of ten remarkable personalities including: Peter Straus, Literary Agent; Arnold Oceng, Actor and Teaching Assistant at Graveney School; Ivor Heller, Commercial Director at AFC Wimbledon; Clare Jefferies, Director of ‘Home Instead,’ Care Services and Jenna Fontanilla, a local primary school student who participates in the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative (WJTI).
The ten films were exhibited at the All England Club’s Wingfield Cafe in the Autumn and form part of 1,000 Londoners, a unique digital portrait of London, offering an insight into the lives of 1,000 people who consider themselves to be Londoners.
