Daniilidou too strong for Bondarenko

Top seed Alona Bondarenko suffered a straight-sets defeat against Eleni Daniilidou in the second round of the Hobart International on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian, ranked 21st in the world, was well beaten 6-3 6-3.

Second seed Vera Zvonareva had little trouble overcoming Raluca Olaru 6-3 6-2.

There were mixed fortunes for the home players - Casey Dellacqua progressed with a 6-4 4-6 6-1 win over Anna Lapushchenkova, but Jelena Dokic was forced to pull out through injury.

Elsewhere, sixth seed Sania Mirza booked her place in the third round with a 6-3 6-4 win over Alla Kudryavtseva, and Edina Gallovits beat Olga Govortsova 6-3 6-2.

Ashley Harkleroad was a 7-6 2-6 6-1 winner over fellow American Meilen Tu, while Elena Vesnina beat Nuria Llagostera Vives 6-3 6-2.
