Tim Henman is hoping for the all-clear to make plans for next season after undergoing a scan on his latest injury.

The British number two, who was clearly in pain during the latter stages of his defeat by Stanislas Wawrinka at the Swiss Open, was not invited to this week's Paris Masters, so he has two months in which to prepare for the familiar trip to the southern hemisphere, where he seems likely to miss out on a seeding for the Australian Open.

Henman, 32, said: "I've no idea what the problem is until I get the results from the scan. It was pretty painful at times during the match, especially during the long rallies, but in the end it didn't really have a huge effect on the outcome."

He told his own website, www.timhenman.org: "Hopefully it won't prove to be anything major. I've really enjoyed the last few weeks and it's always tough picking up injuries, but I guess if you're going to do it, then this is as good a time as any.

"I've got time to rest it now and hopefully it won't take too long to heal - but I'll only know that for sure once I know what the problem is."
