Elena Dementieva booked her place in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships with a 5-7 7-5 6-2 win over Francesca Schiavone.

The 26-year-old began slowly, losing the first set, but rallied to book a meeting with Svetlana Kuznetsova, who overcame Jelena Jankovic 5-7 6-4 6-3.

Dementieva will make her first appearance in a final since claiming her eighth title in Moscow at the end of last season.
