Best name in tennis, they used to say of CoCo Vandeweghe, but what happens when you're no longer even the most celebrated American player called CoCo? And when you know that when people talk of Wimbledon going "loco for Coco", they inevitably mean the other one, Coco Gauff?
That was something for the Roehampton crowds to ponder on Wednesday as 31-year-old Vandeweghe - a Wimbledon quarter-finalist in 2015 and 2017 and a former top-10 player - defeated Barbora Palicova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 7-6(0) to reach the final round of Qualifying.
She now plays Canada's Carol Zhao on Thursday for a place in the main draw after she put out the No.2 seed, Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands.
"Fake it until you make it," Vandeweghe's grandmother, a former Miss America, used to say to her granddaughter, whose given name was Colleen. Strong advice on the way up the first time but does that also apply when you are trying to regenerate your tennis career, when you're looking to 'make it' once again?
There can be no doubt that Vandeweghe 'made it' the first time around as in her prime she was regularly going deep into Grand Slams. She was in her absolute prime in 2017, the year that she reached the last four of the Australian and US Opens, as well as a second Wimbledon quarter-final.
But the following summer she injured her foot at Wimbledon so badly that she couldn't walk for two months. A deeply unfortunate and freakish incident involving a microwave and a bowl of soup - the bowl exploded and damaged her finger - was another setback.

No wonder Vandeweghe has experienced periods of self-doubt, wondering whether she could continue or not, and whether this tennis life is still for her. But, for all her lows, Vandeweghe is still out there - while ranked 192 in the world, so a long way below her career high, she still wants to compete at the highest level.
It doesn't matter that the other Coco is now an elite force and a Centre Court darling. Tennis moves on. Let's not play one Coco off against the other. Wimbledon will be going loco for Gauff next week.
This week, in its own smaller way, Roehampton has been doing just the same for Vandeweghe. One more win for Vandeweghe and Wimbledon could be celebrating both Cocos next week.
