The All England Lawn Tennis Club has announced the return of its esports tournament, the Wimbledon eChamps presented by American Express, which opens on 9 June and will run until 19 July 2025.
Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, and with the continued support of American Express – Official Partner to The Championships, Wimbledon since 2019 – this year’s edition will see mobile game Tennis Clash featured alongside PS5 game TopSpin 2K25 for the event. This will provide more opportunities for the gaming community around the world to compete, and a Wimbledon eChampion will be crowned on each respective platform.
The Wimbledon eChamps presented by American Express will be held in two stages:
- Stage 1 - Qualifying: Beginning on 9 June, eligible Tennis Clash players and TopSpin
2K25 players with a PS Plus subscription and copy of the PS5 game can enter the competition
on their respective platforms and work their way up the rankings. Qualifying is open
to players aged over 18 from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Canada
and the US. Tennis Clash players will be able to enter within the game, while the
TopSpin 2K25 tournament will be hosted on PlayStation tournaments. Eligibility and
competition rules apply, see here for Wimbledon eChamps rules for TopSpin 2K25 and here for Tennis Clash.
- Stage 2 – Finals: The top performers in qualifying for Tennis Clash and TopSpin 2K25 will be invited to attend the live, in-person finals held at the All England Club, home of The Championships, Wimbledon on 18 and 19 July. Competitors will compete to be crowned Wimbledon eChampion for their respective platforms and win an ultimate weekend in London including tickets to The Championships and British Summer Time music festival.
Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing & Commercial Director at the All England Club, commented: “We were delighted that last year’s Wimbledon eChamps received such an incredible reception from fans around the world. Thanks to the ongoing support of our Official Partner American Express, we are proud to bring the Wimbledon eChamps back for a second year. The addition of the Tennis Clash mobile game means we can give more members of the gaming community the opportunity to qualify for the in-person finals hosted at the All England Club in July.”
Shiz Suzuki, VP Global Brand Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing at American Express, said: “Tennis and sports gaming are huge passions of our Cardmembers globally, so it’s important for Amex to continue to show up where they are.
