What does Environment Positive Every Day mean for me - what can I do?

Read on for some simple ideas for how we can all be Environment Positive Champions

Cut your Carbon

• Try to be an active traveller when you can: leave your car at home and use public transport, walk or cycle to the AELTC. Use The Championships Journey Planner to find the more sustainable options.
• Bicycle and e-bike rental parking is available in the cycle hubs in Car Parks 6 and Car Park 10.
• Enjoy our climate-conscious food choices: we illustrate the carbon weighting of all our food, using a scale of A ( very low emissions) to E ( very high emissions) . Find out more about the provenance of our food here.

Reuse and avoid waste

• Bring your reusable water bottle to refill at our many refill points around the Grounds
• Be part of a reuse culture: return your reusable drinks cup so it can be used again and again, year after year. Redeem your deposit at bars or donate to the Wimbledon Foundation.
• Recycle empty plastic bottles and containers, card, cans and glass in the facilities provided (see below)
• If you’d like to, bring a picnic in your own reusable containers – the Orchard is a great place to enjoy your picnic

Take positive action for nature

• Be inspired by Tennis in an English Garden and the nature you can find here

• Capture and share photos of nature or wildlife in and around The Grounds

• Take action at home: find helpful resources including "how to" guides to help you be more nature positive at home

Green your wardrobe

• Wondering what to wear? Be inspired with tips for how to make your wardrobe more sustainable.

Share your actions

• Whether you’re at Qualifying, in The Queue, around the Grounds or at home, we want to see how you’re taking action.
• Post on social media telling us about your Environment Positive actions, using the hashtag #GreenAtWimbledon

Be an Environment Positive Champion!

Recycling

None of our waste goes to landfill. Our aim is to first reduce the amount of waste generated, to increase the amount we reuse and then to recycle as much remaining material as possible. Recycling points are positioned throughout the ground.

What can I recycle?

• Card and paper: newspaper, paper bags, clean dry card food containers
• Cans: empty drinks cans
• Plastic: empty plastic bottles and containers, empty plastic bags
• Glass: empty glass bottles

Reusable cups should be returned to bars or placed in charity return points.

All other waste, such as containers containing food waste, crisp packets, cutlery and napkins should be placed in general waste which generates electricity for the National Grid.

Environment Positive is the AELTC's sustainability aim as well as a mindset we want to adopt, so that over time all actions we take are guided with Environment Positive in mind.

We’re not there yet, but we know it’s where we need to be.
