AELTC COOKIE POLICY
(Last updated 29 May 2024)
Background
The AELTC’s websites www.wimbledon.com and shop.wimbledon.com (“AELTC Websites”) are operated by The All England Lawn Tennis Club (Championships) Limited of Church Road, Wimbledon, London, SW19 5AE (“AELTC”, “We”, “Us”, “Our”).
This Cookie Policy explains to users of the AELTC Websites what cookies are, how the AELTC uses cookies and how users can manage the use of cookies on their devices. This Cookie Policy should be read in conjunction with the AELTC’s Privacy Policy, which describes how the AELTC and its affiliates collect, process and share personal information, as well as data subjects’ legal rights in relation to such activities.
This Cookie Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version of the cookie policy will be published on www.wimbledon.com along with notices of updates where applicable.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that, subject to a user’s cookie settings, is stored on the user’s terminal device (such as a computer or smartphone) when the user visits a website or app. It enables the website or app to recognise the user’s device and store certain information about the user’s preferences and browsing activities.
How does the AELTC use cookies?
The AELTC Websites use cookies to distinguish users from other users of the AELTC Websites. This helps the AELTC to provide users with a better experience when they browse the AELTC Websites and also allows the AELTC to improve the performance of the AELTC Websites.
Except for essential cookies which are necessary to provide users with a service that they have requested from Us (such as using a payment check-out process), the AELTC requests the prior consent of users to store cookies on their devices. This occurs in the format of a cookie banner which explains the different kinds of cookies applicable to the AELTC Websites in which a user can accept or reject the use of non-essential cookies.
Please note that third parties (including, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services) may also use cookies, over which the AELTC has no control. These cookies are likely to be analytical performance cookies or targeting cookies.
How to manage the use of cookies
Other than by rejecting the use of non-essential cookies when first visiting an AELTC Website, if a user wishes to block, delete or deactivate any cookies, they will be required to do so at device level. Users can do this by configuring their browsers to limit or block the use of such cookies and/or by deleting at device level any cookies already sent through their browser.
For a better user experience, however, the AELTC recommends users to accept the storage of all cookies on the AELTC Websites. By not doing so, some features of the AELTC Websites may not function optimally.
