Our Work at Wimbledon initiative, established in 2021, aims to support local people facing barriers to employment to access job opportunities at The Championships. The Foundation and AELTC HR teams work with local charities to offer a supported pathway into employment with every applicant guaranteed an interview. Information sessions are held in community venues across Merton and Wandsworth as well as open days at the AELTC to encourage people who have never been before to feel welcomed. Applicants who are unsuccessful receive personalised feedback to provide them with valuable experience and help them with future applications.
In 2025, we welcomed 143 people working across 10 different teams, including people with visual impairments supported by Merton Vision and adults with learning disabilities supported by Share Community.
