Our commitment to protecting the environment
We believe that the All England Club and The Championships, along with other major sporting bodies and events, has a meaningful role to play in helping to protect the environment, today and for the future.
Changes to our climate are accelerating and we have a responsibility to play our part, mitigating our own impacts, ensuring we have a climate resilient estate for the future and using our influence to support this important cause.
This is not just because it is expected of us, but because it aligns with our values of Heritage, Integrity, Respect and Excellence, and will leave a lasting and positive legacy for the benefit of members, guests, players, partners and our local, national and international communities.
Our approach to the environment is just one aspect of Wimbledon’s capacity and responsibility to act as a force for good, and we aspire to deliver a positive and sustainable impact on our economy, society and the environment in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
We are a signatory to the UN Sport for Climate Action Framework, and are proud to work alongside the UN, Sport, and our partners in achieving our collective aim.
What do we want to achieve?
Our aim is to have and advocate for a positive environmental impact.
We will do this by:
How will we do it, what actions will we take?
Achieving a positive environmental impact will involve transition over time and aligns with our plans for regeneration and development of the Grounds, including redevelopment of the land adjacent to our main site.
We focus our efforts on four pillars, building in consideration for the environment across our operations.
We know this will challenge us in ways we may not expect, and that we have a long way to go. But we are firmly committed to playing our part and look forward to embracing the opportunities for regeneration and innovation, together with our partners, players, members, guests and fans.
Our policy
To sustain the running of the Club, our year-round operations and The Championships in a way that ensures we work towards our aim to have and advocate for a positive impact on our environment. We will be honest, transparent and act with integrity in what we can and cannot do. We will innovate in ways that respect our traditions and values.
